The Academy of Cinema and Television modeling and acting students are always encouraged to informed on current and emerging styles and trends in the world of fashion. The LA Fashion Week, running March 9-13, 2008, coverage on the Internet makes staying informed much easier for students.
On this blog we try to make it effortless.
From the California Apparel News site student can view straight forward images of the 2008 trends with terse descriptions of the various trends, like this one on Demin: “Denim is freshened up this season with styling that ranges from retro to futuristic. Light denim colorations, retro-styled pockets, high waists and futuristic waxed coatings are key looks for the ever-popular category.”
Students who have been watching this season of Project Runway can now watch the auction of the collections that showed at Bryant Park during New York Fashion Week. All proceeds from these sales will benefit The HOPE Program.

I enjoy Project Runway as it allows my kids to stay up on recent trends. I’m going to check out the Academy of Cinema and Television this week to see if it might be something my kids would like to do. I hear great things about it!

My oldest daughter is 15 and is absolutely addicted to Project Runway. She is my fashion diva and loves the to see all the fashion ideas and designs the show introduces. To have somewhere like the Academy of Cinema and Television to look into is something that my daughter would love doing. I am defenitely going to give them a call!

Television programs like Project Runway are mentoring many of our teen students. The program gives the students a look at behind the scenes of clothing design, but also a peek into what an assignment for the average NY model might entail.
They see how stressed a designer becomes when the model is late. They view the models “before” hair and make-up as well as the “after” hair and make-up — thereby giving them a more realistic insight into the daily life of a model.
The television program is indeed good for anyone interested in the world of fashion, but is especially a good watch for Academy of Cinema and Television students.
