Shorts are not just for the beach or for lounging around at home. Once again, they are in vogue and here’s how to wear them best.
FASHION is rarely original. In fact, a lot of trends are like Halley’s Comet, making repeated comebacks with each new generation. Case in point: the return of shorts as a fashion trend.
In the 1970s they were cutely called hot pants, the successor to the miniskirt, and were a huge rage. That was followed by a revival in the 1980s. More than 20 years on, shorts are hot again this season, with major fashion labels offering grown-up and glamorised remakes.
In the entertainment industry, shorts have long had an illustrious presence – Raquel Welch and Brigitte Bardot were among the sex sirens who drove the guys crazy by squeezing themselves into tight, little and oh-so-hot pants in the 1970s.
