TV-1 Workshop
Commercial Acting and Interview Technique - Acting
Throughout this course, students will learn the basics of perfecting specific characters for commercial interviews and understanding the process of a successful interview. This will establish the foundation to build solid acting skills for all mediums, stage and screen alike. Students of all ages will learn how to slate, memorize quickly, master the cold read and be able to get to the “next level” of commercial auditioning. Exercises incorporate the use of commercial copy, improvisation, vocalization, interview techniques, resume writing, defining characters, and professional development. Students learn to focus on believability, spontaneity and recognizing the staple characters used by many products to captivate specific audiences. As each week becomes increasingly more challenging, students will learn to build a strong work ethic and should develop even stronger interview and memorization techniques and skills making them more competitive in the marketplace.
TV-2 Workshop
Sitcom & Soap - Acting
Students will learn how to break down scenes for both comedy and drama. They will experience dry rehearsal, camera blocking, and taping. Using acting and improvisation techniques, students work on-camera with scripts for sitcoms, sketch comedy and dramatic TV roles. For the sitcom portion, students will begin to understand how to recognize and playing comic patterns within a script, how to create comedy with physical movement, analyzing a scene for template comedic relationships, making the best comic choice for their character and realistically building a scene to get to the “punch-line”. Dramatic scene work will focus on removing melodrama from the acting technique and focusing on real reactions to often tragic or stressed relationships between characters. We emphasize the importance of “truthful behavior” in an imaginary world.
TV-3 Workshop
Film Acting – Acting
Our film study class is designed to help young actors learn about the elements of filmmaking and how actor’s performance for the camera varies from the stage. Each month students will be required to memorize pieces and using monologues and scenes, students move closer to understanding the environment of the film set. Scripts from well known films will be used to introduce students to a technique for preparation and performance on camera. Exercises include rehearsing scenes to be shot out of sequence, researching film monologues, focus, commitment, working in the moment, understanding how to work with camera shots, editing and energy management, discipline and stamina needed on any set.
FCP Workshop
Fashion & Commercial Print – Modeling
For actors, learning how to convey character in photography is a great way to increase other options for earning income and increasing self-awareness. Commercial print is a natural extension of the same skills used for on-camera acting. Commercial print modeling uses people of all types, sizes and ages; it includes catalogues, editorials, magazine and newspaper ads, brochures, books, etc. In addition to understanding print work, we also instruct talent to understand why the ability to master posture and how to walk the runway can be central to building confidence and overcoming stage fright.
TV-4 Workshop
Improvisation - Acting
Learning how to think quickly and creatively is critical to the improvisational actor. This introduction to improv class will require students to work on their listening and quick decision making skills, by incorporating many fun games as seen on, “Who’s Line Is It Anyway?” Improv focuses specifically on being spontaneous, while “agreeing and proceeding” with others to make a scene work. Improv enhances every actor’s ability to be more creative and bold with character development. The exercises taught will allow the actor to create a story based on the truth of the relationships. This class includes group, two-person scene and individual performances. The student will learn to initiate and sustain group created scenes, develop interesting characters based on unlikely situations, and how to handle on the spot improvisational scenes for interviews, so that the pressure is less stressful.
TV-5 Workshop
Monologue Intensive and Performance Technique - Acting
Every actor should have two monologues (a serious and comedic piece) on hand that they can perform at a moments notice. It is a required tool of the trade that many performers neglect to practice or even acquire. Students will learn two contrasting pieces that are a minute in length that they find from a book or film and students will also write their own monologue based on a character that best defines their “typecast”. Monologue study class will give the actor skills that will increase their public speaking ability, self confidence and performance technique.
ACT TV-6
Workshop
Scene Study – Acting
It’s not enough to master the interview; you also must be able to perform the job to the best of your ability. Learning and understanding how to break down a scene and developing true, strong characters with “real” relationships are essential to the successful actor. Why is scene study so important? A well crafted scene is the central force of this art form. Scene study gives you the opportunity to work on all the essential elements of the acting process in a contained and concentrated way. The beauty of this creative process is the coming together of the actors, director and author from different training and backgrounds, in a collaborative effort in order to bring the authors intention to life. It is why people connect to actors who perform in film, TV and theatre. Students will be working on scenes from all different mediums within the industry.
IDM Workshop
Image Development for Models – Modeling
Are you looking for a way to stand out at model calls? Do you want to define your look? During this workshop you'll learn tips and tricks straight from runway and the photo studio that will relate to real life. Students will receive media training, fashion styling, fitness, skin care and grooming and also will learn how to interview properly by creating personal stories and common networking communication techniques. In any situation, having poise and confidence, self respect and a positive attitude will translate as success at any interview, go-see, interview and even once you get the job to being asked back. For a performer, having the total package includes the knowledge of the business and the ability to communicate effectively with all different types of people within the industry. |
